The “Unique Seat” becomes the 200th licensing / marketing agreement completed by the InventionHome licensing team.

The Unique Seat is an innovative seating system that starts as a backpack and converts into outdoor seating for one or two people, including a comfortable multi-purpose blanket.

Shirley Hayden came up with the idea for The Unique Seat when visiting the beach with her family.  They were struggling to carry all of their beach supplies and keep up with their young son at the same time.  Shirley figured there must be another way to enjoy the outdoors.  That’s when she had the vision of the Unique Seat.  She went home and drew the design for the multi-purpose seat and then began to research how to bring a product to market.

After several years of hard work and persistence in trying to commercialize the invention on her own, Shirley discovered InventionHome.  She was selected to attend InventionHome’s DRTV Product Summit where she greatly impressed the attending companies with a demonstration of The Unique Seat’s many capabilities. However, Shirley was not able to land a deal due to the cost of the product, which made it a little too high to sell on a TV infomercial.

However, after the summit InventionHome worked closely with QVC specialist, Scott Hynd to land Shirley a license agreement with a major manufacturer of beach and backyard furniture.

“Thanks for sticking with me for the last 3 years,” exclaimed Shirley.  “It’s funny that what we hoped the deal was is completely different in the end.”

Congratulations Shirley and InventionHome!
